Here he comes...
Hopalong Cassidy!

A collection of music and memories...

Read the personal story of one young Hoppy fan who met his cowboy hero in person for a magazine photo shoot in 1950 and celebrated him for many years after that, including writing a song, "The Angels handed me a rose," about Hoppy and his lovely wife, Grace Bradley Boyd.

Here is a picture of that young Hoppy fan sitting on a corral fence
with his six guns drawn in 1950 --

And here he is 45 years later with two former Hollywood actors...

The title of the multi-media book is from the song in the first Hopalong Cassidy western film from 1935...

The first edition of the book was published in 2005 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first Hopalong Cassidy film. The second edition was published in 2009. Both are now out-of-print.

The author of this collection is Roger Hall, a songwriter and music preservationist who met Hopalong Cassidy in 1950, and then later he met Grace Bradley Boyd on the 100th anniversary of William Boyd's birth in 1995.

In 2009, Roger was invited to speak about his book and about music in Hopalong Cassidy films at the Hopalong Cassidy Festival in Cambridge, Ohio.

The following year he attended the Festival again and sang his new song, "The angels handed me a rose (Hoppy's Song for Grace)." The lyrics to the song were written by Susie Coffman, author of a collection of poems and stories about Hopalong Cassidy. Later that year Roger dedicated the song to the memory of Hoppy's beloved wife, Grace Bradley Boyd.

The complete book, illustrated with many color pictures, is included on a disc, playable on your computer's CD/DVD drive.

It includes a large picture gallery, several music albums, magazine and newspaper articles, and sheet music covers too.

There is also a remembrance titled: "The Day I Met Hoppy." Here is what Roger has written at the end of his story:

I dedicate this story to William and Grace Boyd who made my life happier, during my childhood and my later years as a Hoppy fan club member.
As the song says from the first Hopalong Cassidy western: “I’m following the stars.”  It’s been fun for me to be “following” Mr. and Mrs. Hopalong Cassidy. I feel blessed to have met these two fine people and to soak up their smiles.

Comments from satisfied customers about "Following The Stars":

"Really enjoyed it! Especially the Hoppy story record." --
Allen from Maryland

"I've really enjoyed reading your book" -- Judy from Utah

"I truly enjoyed each page, reading and viewing photos, some I've never seen" -- Scotty from Wyoming

Review of the 2nd edition (2009):

"FOLLOWING THE STARS: MUSIC AND MEMORIES OF HOPALONG CASSIDY" is by Roger Hall, the boy who met Hopalong Cassidy in 1950. The disc is a memory scrapbook of Hoppy material: songs in Cassidy movies, Hoppy children's albums, list of music composers and musical groups in Hoppy films, sheet music covers, hundreds of graphics and photos, plus music files. A nice supplement to the two current HC [Hopalong Cassidy] books with material not contained in either."

-- Boyd Magers, Western Clippings #90 (July/August 2009).
