This is a choice selection of memorable jazz film themes from many of the most iconic film noir scores by John Barry, Elmer Bernstein,
Alex North, Henry Mancini, Leith Stevens, Miklos Rozsa,
Lalo Shifrin, and others.

The themes are just as important as the noirish acting and cinematography for such films as BEAT GIR:L (John Barry), THE MAN WITH A GOLDEN ARM (Elmer Bernstein), TOUCH OF EVIL (Henry Mancini), or

Just take a look at the track titles listed above and see if there isn't at least one or more of these score themes that you would like to have in your collection. Even for those collectors who have complete soundtracks of noir scores, this is still recommended for the vast amount of great scores by some of the best film composers and jazz ensembles
from the 1940s and 1950s.

The sound on these three CDs is superb and
superior to the original releases.

There are brief but very good summary sleeve notes by Colin Salter. There's even a provacative cover photo of a noirish temptress that adds to the fun of this excellent 3 CD set.

If you are a fan of film noir, like me,
these score themes will bring back fond memories.

Highly Recommended especially to jazz and film noir fans.

-- Roger Hall, Film Music Review, 18 December 2015

Trivia Extra: Do you know who the pianist was on the theme from THE APARTMENT (Disc Two, track 20)? It just might be the famous composer of such classic films as: JAWS, JURRASSIC PARK, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, SCHINDLER'S LIST, STAR WARS (all of them!) and many more.
