The Sammy Film Music Awards

1988-2016

The Sammy Film Music Awards (SFMA) are named in honor of lyricist, Sammy Cahn, who received four Oscars for his songs: "Three Coins in the Fountain"; "All the Way"; "High Hopes"; "Call Me Irresponsible." He was Oscar nominated more times than any other songwriter -- 26 times in all.

Now available online for over 25 years,
The Sammy Film Music Awards (SFMA)
are the longest-running awards
chosen exclusively for film music -- including
best film soundtracks, film songs,
compilations, album producers,
and lifetime achievement for a past composer or songwriter.
These awards were first announced
on WGBH radio in Boston, Massachusetts
on Ron Della Chiesa's popular program, "Music America."

They are chosen by Roger Hall,
a respected film music historian and
a member of the International Film Music Critics Association,
also Managing Editor of Film Music Review
and author of the best-selling book,
A GUIDE TO FILM MUSIC.

"What really makes the Sammy Awards worth checking out is the irregular addition of irreverent and praiseworthy categories."
--Timothy Sexton (read the full story - click here)
