"Dream World"

In his illustrated eBook, Roger Lee Hall has gathered together his early song lyrics, poems and stories about his life experiences from the 1940s to the 1970s.
The first section has sixteen of his early song lyrics,
including his first complete song "Dream World,"
and his first recorded song, "The Soho Serenade,"

"The Soho Serenade" is one of the songs on this CD,
The thirty poems from the 1960s and '70s are Roger's personal observations
of the world around him.They include his jaundiced view of festive celebrations ("Carnival") and hectic work habits ("Big City"). On a more humorous side, he writes about the women he met on his travels ("European Flames: Six Limericks"). There are also poems with music themes, such as "Melody in G" and "Live on, Mozart!"
Roger's six stories cover the years from his childhood to adulthood.
One of his earliest memories was meeting his favorite cowboy film star William Boyd, who played Hopalong Cassidy in the movies, on television and radio.
In August of 1950, Roger was featured on the cover of Look magazine
with Hopalong Cassidy.Here he proudly holds that magazine issue...
These are Roger's stories:
- "Growing Up in Bloomfield" -- His childhood love of cowboy film stars, especially
Gene Autry and Hopalong Cassidy. - "E.M.A. at OHEKA" -- His first singing in a glee club at Eastern Military Academy which was located in a castle built and named OHEKA, after the multi-millionaire Otto Hermann Kahn, who had his castle built in 1919 on the highest point on Long Island. It was the second largest residence built in the U.S.A. during the 20th century.
- "Lonely Boy at Home" -- His fears as a neglected child in the 1950s with his only enjoyment coming from music on radio and television (including watching the first showing of the notorious low budget movie, ROBOT MONSTER), and his weekly visits to the local movie palace.
- "Electric Elvis and Bill Randle" -- His work for the Cleveland disc jockey who had the priviledge of introducing Elvis Presley on national television in 1956.
- "Suffering Songwriter" -- His frustrating years spent trying to get his songs recorded and released by a record company.
- "Meeting The Shakers"-- His interviews with several members of America's oldest religious communal society, The Shakers, and their meeting with the distinguished composer Aaron Copland , which Roger had scheduled.
