CD Reviews - 2007

Two Great Nostalgic Collections

If you're looking for excellent compilations of recordings by pop singers from the 1950s, these two enjoyable CD collections (one for Crooners and the other for Divas) will nicely fit your search.

There are many familiar hit recordings by singers like Nat "King" Cole and Perry Como for the Crooners disc, or Patti Page and Sarah Vaughan for the Diva CD.You might not recognize all the singers on these CDs but are all worth listening to with their clear diction and stellar voices. Unlike today's mumbling and screaming singers, these pop singers took great care with their performances. The orchestral arrangements are also very supportive of the singers and don't overpower them. The Digitally Remastered sound is outstanding considering the age of these original Mono singles.

Both collections are available on Hit Parade Records CDs and are highly recommended.
